The Colorado Student Assessment Program (CSAP) is designed to provide feedback to districts and schools in their effort to fine tune their education systems. With the recent changes to the State Standards, the State has adopted a new transition test called the TCAP (Transitional Colorado Assessment Program). The TCAP is a transitional test to allow for continued growth calculations until the state has completely transitions to the new standards and assessments. The CSAP/TCAP tests achievement based on the state’s model content standards and is administered identically in classrooms across the state. Its primary purpose is to monitor state trends, give an overall view of student performance, and corroborate the district’s own assessment results. After the results of this yearly assessment have been compiled, they are published statewide.
